They are loaded in your local work directory so make sure that your latest changes are checked-in if indeed you do not want to overwrite them.
To retrieve the latest version, use the Retrieve Files... menu and auto-select changed files. Files that are different from the server (latest) version will be retrieved.
To retrieve a group of labeled files, it might be safer to temporarly change the local work directory.
