saving image and string together

I am able to save my image as .bmp or .jpeg and I am able to save my string as .doc. However, I can't save both the image and the string together as one file, either as .bmp/.jpeg or .doc. Can anyone help?

I need to add comments to my image in the same file.

Are you requiring just taking the image of a tab control or something like that? If you are you can use a reference for the control, then use an invoke node to "get image". This output then can go into the flatten pixmap function under the graphics format palette. At this point you can use the other functions in the palette to save as a bmp or jpeg, etc. This will basically take a screenshot of the control containing the control and text or values. Hope this helps.

If your trying to save an image and string into an actual MS-Word document, have a look at the report VI's that come with LabVIEW. These come in two flavors. If you have one of the developer suites, you should have the "delux" Report Generation Toolkit. This is on the add-ons CD and must be installed separately from the LabVIEW installation. If you don't have this, standard NIReport.llb that comes with LabVIEW should be able to do what you need.

You should have a menu for which ever one you have on your functions palette named Report Generation or something similar. You should be able to find what you need there. These will let you build a report from whatever you have and dump it right to a .doc.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

Looks like you don't have the addon Report Generation Toolkit. If you see yourself doing this type of thing often, you might want to consider getting it. It makes doing this pretty easy. I forgot the standard report toolkit only saves to html.

You could build the VI's to do this yourself. The toolkit uses ActiveX. Here's a document that has a VI you can download that shows how to create a report in Word using ActiveX. Play around with the ActiveX nodes a bit and you should get the hang of how they work. It's a bit similar to using Pr
operty and Invoke nodes. You just need to find the correct parameter to pass your data to.
