Hi

The application builder is not included in every development package. You may have a separate cd somewhere at your workplace.

the CD is the full version.
I've already done that once and it was installed.
when trying to find it I bumped into a menu that edits the menues and there I saw the "build application or dll" but not under "tools" and now I don't find it anymore.
thanks again

Yeah, this sounds familiar...

NI in its wisdom decided to offer a sub-set of all the tools available in the "full" version. As far as I know, only the "Professional" version has the application builder built-in. For all other versions there must be a seperate install disk for the app. builder.

Hope this helps

Shane.

I can't remember the installation of LV 6.1 - is it possible that you have to select the application builder to be installed?

If this doesn't solve your problem, this question has to be passed on to someone else in this forum.

Hi amose,

The feature to build your VI into an executable or DLL is offered by the Application Builder. The Application Builder is built into the Professional Development System of LabVIEW, but can be separately purchased to be installed on top of the Full Development System and the Base Package of LabVIEW. This has been the case for the current and the many previous versions of LabVIEW, at least back to LabVIEW 6i (6.0). In all versions you can only access the Application Builder by going to the Tools menu and click on Build Application or Shared Library (DLL).... Here's a screenshot from the way to launch the Application Builder from LabVIEW 6.1:

If the Application Builder menu item above doesn't show up in your version, then it's because you don't have the Professional Development System and you still haven't installed the Application Builder separately. You will then have to find the Application Builder CD and install it.

Have fun!

Thanks to you all.
What happened was that i reinstalled labview a couple of months ago and the application builder was there. I assumed that it came with the full package. But now when I formatted my PC the builder was also erased. After all your comments I took a close look at all my installation CDs and found the application builder CD.
Thanks again
