programming problems...

This program only writes a max of 50 points to the spreadsheet, and the values are all zero, even though the data I am recording is all non-zero numbers.

Does it have something to do with the format?? I wasn't able to understand the syntax of how to put that in and what I need to do to "scan from string" and then input my 1D array into the spreadsheet.

Thanks! I appreciate any help!

Hi Bethany,

When you say 'spreadsheet' do you mean a Excel spreadsheet ?

Your program writes one value for each loop iteration. The final array size will only depend on the time you press the stop button, there is nothing to prevent it from getting bigger than 50 values.. Do you see good data on the primary valve indicator?

I am not sure why the "write to spreadsheet" vi is missing. Aren't you using the stock VI with this same name from the file I/O palette. The stock VI has a default format of %.3f, so if your data is all less than 0.001, you'll get all zeroes.

I see good data on the waveform graph, but the same data is not showing up on the Excel spreadsheet.

The "write to spreadsheet" is not missing - it is working somewhat - the problem is that it records only values of "0". I know the format needs to be changed, but I didn't understand what to change it to. I would appreciate help knowing what I should change it to to be able to read data down to 10 ^ (-10).

Thanks,

Bethany

Writing to a Excel spreadsheet is somewhat different then writing to a LV spreadsheet file. The easiest way is writing the data to a CSV file and import this in Excel.

There are many threads (including from myself) regarding this topic. Also look in the NI KB

Just use %f. Right click on the Write to Spreadsheet and select Help or go to the Help menu and select Show Context Help and when you have the mouse over the function, click the "Click here for more help" hyperlink. When the help opens, scroll down to the listing for format specifier. Click the format string syntax hyperlink.

Thanks. I did that before, but I couldn't figure out which one to use.
