problem installing Imaq_usb_Installer

Hi everyone,

I am using Labview 8.5 and XP.

I would like to install the Imaq_usb_installer on my computer. However I get this message when ever I try to :

"You must have Vision 7.1 or higher with LabVIEW 7.0 or higher, or you must have Vision Assistant 7.1 or higher to use this add-on"

I have have got the Full package for 8.5. I can't find Vision assistant on my computer. Is it because it is not included in the full Labview 8.5 package?

Thanks for your help,

regards,

Marc

I forgot to say my goal is to use logitech quickwebcam toin order to make screen shots every minute for instance. I have used the webcam library and examples, and it works fine except when I set the size to 640x480 (which is what I need!), I get a strange kind of picture. Accordind to some posts in the past, this can be solved by using the Imaq_usb_installer because it has a propriety icon that enables the user to set the right resolution.

So this is way I am trying to install the Imas_usb_installer...

Any help would be great,

Hi,

In order to install NI IMAQ for USB camera, you have to install vision components which are not included in LabVIEW. I think the best thing you have to do is install the Vision Devellopement Module, which will allow you to use your cam.

Hope this helps,

Hello Richard,

Thanks a lot for your help.

I am a bit confused.... is the "Vision Devellopement Module" free ? If not, does this mean there is no way of making the webcam work with in the  correct resolution without paying for an extra tool kit?

Hi Mark,

After further search, you "only need" to install the Vision Acquisition Software and Vision Assistant, which are not free...  You also need to know that this USB driver is not supporterd.
