problem in "Is port connected"

I just tried opening the Port in Hyperterminal and got an error that some other program has got hold of the telephony device.

Now, how can i check which program has got hold of that port??

because to my knowledge i am not running any program from my side. 

Is there any possibility that some System Program has taken hold of that port ??

Hi Dennis,

One more thing,

Can there be any issues if i Read from my H/W in one VI and write to it in another??

and also, i am configuring my H/W in a separate VI. In the Starting, one VI will configure the port and sends the Resource name and Error to the main VI.

I just tried a bit of my program. I called 2 VIs, one Configures the port and other write some data to it.

The VI which Configures the port works perfectly fine. But the one which write Data to the H/W generates an error stating, "the connection for the given session has been lost".

what could be the cause ??
