pda module: finding devices

Hello, Community,

question for you:  after I finished installing embedded VS 4.0 and PDA module, i was in the process of starting a new pda project using pda wizard.  unfortunately, it shows "no devices available" and there were no reasons given.

my pda is connected.
the EVS 4.0sp4 installed
pda module installed.

what else could be necessary?

You might not need it, but I would recommend installing an emulator as well.  Then even if you don't have the hardware, you can still do much of the development and testing.  I know that this is handy when my Dell Axim is left connected to my home computer .

Also NI has covered what you need in this link [link removed; article no longer available] as far as external tools.  You will, of course need to be able to connect to your PDA to download to it and you will need a sync program for that (as mentioned previously).

I have Active Sync 4.0 and MS Mobile 5.0.  PDA module wizard does not see my device.

Please offer alternative suggestion.

Have you installed several sw packages in the default folder? (especially those from  MS)
In the meantime you can "Build" the PDA project on your host drive and save it via ActiveSync on the PDA device.

How do you do this?  I am new to the PDA and I have only built directly to the PDA.  How do you build to a host drive?

Bob, I assume that was supposed to be hard drive. If you go to Tools>>Build for PDA instead of using the run button, the exe will be built in a directory on the HD of your choosing, normally the synchronized directory. If you do build to that directory, ActiveSync detects it after a second or so and updates the device with your new version. Even if the device is not registered with ActiveSync, you can often copy the exe to the Mobile Device folder to copy it to the PDA.

i got it installed and followed the instruction according to the demo.

what was missing was the sdk for pocket pc 2003.

Hi, When I try to do a build on my VI like in ThSa's screenshots, I get the error "Unsupported control - Tag, 2407". I don't really have any odd controls in my program, and even if I remove all controls I still get the same message. Does anyone know what triggers this error? It is followed by  "Error creating temporary directory in CreateDirCpyFiles". I am able to build the tutorial program successfully, just not my own program.
