By the way, do you really think you need a patent?
It's probably one of those things that if you have to ask how much they cost then you can't afford them, meaning that if you needed to file a patent, you would probably know how to do it already.
In any case, I doubt the concepts embedded in a single VI would be patentable. You would probably need to patent an algorithm or a combination of concepts and code.

If the intent is to prevent someone from using a program you wrote without your permission, you might want to consider some other sort of protection. There are software (i.e. linking a license to a disk driver id or a MAC) and hardware solutions (i.e. dongles).
