How big a number does it need to be able to handle? Integers only?

Hi picunder;

I got curious about your question and come up with the attached vi. It only handle integers and up to trillions (I think). I don't know if I got it right and I haven't tested throughfully.

Let me know if it works.

Well done Enrique! Cool thing indeed. Minus signs and fractions would make this application complete. I am waiting for version 2... 😉 Also, when I ran it I noticed problems with 1000000 (one million) and up. That is a minor problem that easily can be solved. /Mikael

Hi Everyone!

"Number to Proper English Text.vi" which is available at www.OpenG.org does just this.

Converts a number to proper english text. Rounds off to whole numbers and can handle up to 10^63 (vigintillion) places.

The URL of the vi is:

http://www.jimkring.com/openg/projects/project.cgi?ID=26

I would love to see a fractional version that also handled negative numbers. It sure sounds like a job for open source...
