I’m using NI6040E Daq to measure frictional torque and speed of the drive shaft. The sampling rate i'm using is 1000 s/s. The problems I am facing are:
The speed pick-up generates a 5V signal at every revolution of shaft. The shaft runs from 100 to 5000 rpm and I am struggling to get right VI in LabVIEW to show me real time speed of shaft.
The torque signal is superimposed by a 50Hz noise at all speeds (think this might be from the mains). And higher frequency noises as the speed approach 5000 rpm. Which will be the right VI to filter these noises from the signal?
For (1) it sounds like you need to just use the counter on your DAQ board. For (2) while you can filter the stuff out in software, you are far better off taking care of this in hardware. See, for example:
