myRIO Analog Inputs

I have a myRIO 1900 and I am trying to use the DAQ Assistant VI to log analog inputs.  When I open the VI with the myRIO plugged the NI Simulated DAQ Device appears which is the same thing when not plugged in.  The device is plugged in and powered.  Am I missing some software or is the myRIO not compatible with this VI?

I also know that I can log inputs through the Analog input VI using the "n samples" or "1 sample".  Does anybody have any good documentation on the difference between the two?

Thanks!

  • Apparently you can use an Analog Input Express VI on myRIO. A video is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6Mi-VjBlmc. This may be what you mean regarding an "Analog input VI".
  • The video doesn't show an N/1 samples choice (or at least I missed it), but in general N samples will produce an array, and 1 sample will produce a scalar, and which you prefer depends on your processing, but in particular on the acquisition speed. Probably you can get a higher sample rate using N samples per call than 1 sample.
  • If you need faster acquisition, you might need to use the FPGA mode.
