I am using a NI-DAQ-6025E card. Does NIMAX uninstall my DAQ card?

Hi,

The rpcrt4.dll is part of the DCom98 package. Are you seeing this error on a Windows 98 OS machine? You can try restoring the DCom dlls to the original ones from the Win98 disk. There is also an update to the DCom components for Windows 98 (version 1.3) on the Microsoft website.

Also, what versions of MAX and NI-DAQ are you using? Have you installed any other drivers (e.g. NI-IMAQ)?

I have seen the RPCRT4.DLL error occur a couple of times when installing older versions of NI-IMAQ that do not run with the Meta-Installer that NI has migrated to using with newer software releases. If you only need a NI-DAQ driver, I would make sure that you have the most recent version of the NI-DAQ driver installed. Refer to this page to verify that you have the most current NI-DAQ driver for your PCI-6025 device on your OS:
http://www.ni.com/support/daq/versions_pci_pxi.htm

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi,

I actually think this problem is unrelated to LabVIEW but is more a result of a bad RPCRT4.DLL file. The solution will depend on your operating system: if the OS is Win95, Win98, or WinNT 4.0 with SP4, you'll want to check out this Microsoft Support KB 216889: FIX: DCOM95 1.2 or DCOM98 Causes Data Corruption in RPC Calls.

However, if you have a newer version of Windows, you probably just want to try replacing the rpcrt4.dll. This site provides the DLL for you to download: http://www.dll-files.com

After downloading the file, follow these steps to replace the old one with the new:
1. Start Registry Editor (Start >> Run >> type 'regedit').
2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientProtocols
3. Click the ClientProtocols key.
4. First, create a backup of the existing dll: on the File menu, click Export.
5. Save the file with different backup name.
6. Import the new file: click File, and then click Import.
7. Select the new dll file that you saved, and then click Open.
8. Quit Registry Editor.
9. Restart your computer. Relaunch MAX and/or LabVIEW.

Hope this helps!

I tried unsuccessfully to download the file onto a diskette. I also tried to copy unsuccessfully from another computer. Anyway, a friend of mine has seen a NI technician checking a DAQ board with a probe. Do you know anything about checking with a probe?

Probing the DAQ board would allow you to determine if there are any problems with the hardware itself, such as a signal not coming through correctly or possibly a broken circuit somewhere. There are some tutorials online at ni.com regarding Probes, but I don't think that will get rid of the RPCRT4.DLL error. I would suggest trying my recommendations in the previous post and seeing if that'll get rid of the DLL error.

Thanks.

Oh, sorry about that. I didn't see that you were having problems downloading the DLL file. I've also attached a version of the DLL to this post. Maybe this download will work better...? I had to add a .txt extension to it for the file to upload, but just rename the file such that it doesn't have the .txt extension. Thanks!

After downloading RPCRT4.DLL.TXT, how do I change it to RPCRT4.DLL.?
