little help

Hi,

I'm currently on a workterm with a local electronic manufacturing
company, and one of the things I've been asked to look into is a kind
of benefit-cost analysis of possible software test tools that could be
used here. My question is, other than LabView what other software
packages are availible that perform similar functions?

I simply need a couple of packages so I can do some comparisons.

HP-VEE and Visual Basic are common alternatives, both not as good for this
purpose (IMHO).

Also, of course, C/C++ and assembler.

Agilent VEE
Visual Basic
C++

To get some information on comparisons already done, you can search through the archives of the magazines Test & Measurement World (www.tmworld.com) and Evaluation Engineering (www.evaluationengineering.com). IMHO, none of the other graphical programming languages hold a candle to LabVIEW in terms of support or overall capabilities. I also think that you should throw NI's TestStand into the equation. As a test executive capable of managing tests written in a variety of languages including LabVIEW, VC++, Visual Basic, Delphi, etc., it's been perfect for the company I work for (both in manufacturing and product development).
