large digit display

You can also use picture controls. Make a VI that takes in a number,
and displays it in an output window. The main advantage here is the
colors and style are all highly changable. With a picture, you can
also use things like small dots or boxes to make the digit look like a
7 segment LED or a dot matrix display. Just decode the digit, then
use boolean logic to light the correct piece.
in labview, look in look in: functions pallette\graphics &
sound\picture functions\Draw Text in Rect.vi for a start

There are some examples already on the we
b, look here for one (not
mine)

I also have written a few of them and might be willing to share.

Sorry my previous message to this posting got screwed up.

You can use the picture controls to make a picture of the number or
letter you want with whatever colors, sizes, and styles you want. You
make a VI that has a numeric input control, then it outputs that
numeric in a window.

Jean-Pierre Drolet has written a good VI like this you can download

I also have written a few examples (LV6i) and will email you a simple
o
ne if you want.

Have you ever compared the execution time using picture controls against using a true type font (TTF)?

If you also have CVI you have a TTF for 7 segment LED.

The only advantage for picture controls I see is the style if you don't have a tool to create the TTF. You can manipulate size and colours of a numeric control in LabVIEW even at runtime using property nodes.
