labview runtime engine

When you installed the labview runtime engine 7.0 from the CD, do you have to install labview as well? Can you just install the runtime engine and run .exe applications? I tried to install just the LabView Runtime Engine on my laptop, but somehow I got LabView installed as well. Thanks

You can install LV Runtime Engine, only.

I think it is downloadable from this website.

You should be able to just install the engine. Did you just run the main setup.exe from the CD? If you did, you should have selected Custom install. I don't have the LabVIEW 7 CD handy but 6.1 had a separate msi file in the engine folder. The easiest way to get the run-time engine is to create an installer when you build the executable and then run that. The installer automatically includes the run-time engine and some other support files you might need.
