Here is the example in LabVIEW 8.0.  I think that it is applicable to your needs, but you will need to pass out this data as a cluster most likely, since there is a limit to the number of data items that can be passed out of a subVI, and even if there were not, you wouldn't want 28 wires coming out of a VI.  I hope this helps.
