labview front panel going haywire

I have a Labview 8.2 VI running in a project.

This VI was created on a different computer.

The problem is that whenever I open the VI file, all front panel screen buttons have gone haywire.

They do not remain in the same positions as they were when the VI was created.

This happens everytime I close and open the VI even after  re-arrangenment has been done.

Please help me out.

I can think of a few reasons. For example:

  • Are any of the buttons set to scale with the pane?
  • Is the FP window set to maintain proportions with different monitor resolutions?
  • Is the FP maximized to the screen?
  • Do the two computers differ in monotor resolution?
  • Do the two computers have different system font settings?

Can you attach your VI or at least show a screenshot from each computer so we can narrow down the possibilities?

Hello Altenbach,

Thanks for the quick response. I have attached my VI.

Please have a look at it.

Also it will be useful if you could give some tips on maintaining proportions with different monitor resolutions since the VI was done on a laptop (1024*768)but runs on a desktop with a bigger monitor and better resolution.

What is the purpose of that rectangle decoration that is set to scale with the pane?

(Personally, I prefer not to scale things as a function of monitor resolution).

Which rectangular decoration do you mean? The grid alignment?

No, there is a decoration near the center which changes size when the window is resized. Look for an object that has guidelines extending from the corners.
