For the call setup, you can just right-click on the icon of the subVI located in the main VI. I'm pretty sure LV 6 had this.

There isnt any call setup options, just a VI properties one, and in that, the only applicable settings tab is "Execution". within that there are 2 drop boxes, one for priority, and another for preferred execution system. the options in the preferred execution system are as follows: User interface, standard, instrument I/O, Same as caller, data aquisition, other 1, and other 2. Is user interface the one i want? or do i fiddle with the priority of the VI?

Don't fiddle with the priorities. This is completly unrelated.

You are looking at the VI properties. That's not what I meant. (Still there should be a selection under "window appearance...customize" of the VI properties).

Click on the icon of the subVI at the place where it is called in the main VI (not in the upper right corner of the window!). See image.

Press the "PrintScreen" button to get an image of the entire screen, or "alt+PrintScreen" to get the currently active widow as image in the clipboard.

Now just open you favorite graphics program and paste the content of the clipboard. 😉
