internet toolkit

Hi everybody,

I have a question about using the Internet Toolkit. Some of our Developers asked me, if it is possible to access a Vi - User Interface created with LabView. That Vi is using MatLab to make computations with the parameters entered by the user. Our Developers want to make that Vi available on our Website for costumors. My question is, if the internet toolkit is the right tool for that? Or is there another possibility?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Lu Huynh,

If you are using Labview 8.2 or have access to this to evaluate, have a look at the Web Publishing Tool.  You can access this from the Tools Menu.  I have used this to access the front panel of Real Time targets and it works quite well and allows a user to interact with the Front Panel using Internet explorer.

This sounds to me to be what you are after.  I can't say I know what the security implications are to expose this over the internet but I would imagine you would need to provide either a route from a public IP to the computer that would be running the VI or VPN access to  a network where the machine would be visible.  Many ways to skin the cat depending on what exactly you are after but the 1st step I think would be to have a loop at the Web Publishing Tool.

cheers

Hi Peter,

thanks for your reply. I think the Webpublishing tool sounds pretty good. I'm no expert for LabView, I just have the task to find out if it is possible to give customers a VI over the Internet. If this is possible to make computations, e.g. with Matlab, than the tool is surely the rigth one. I know that our developers are on Labview pro 7. For more Informations I think I should contact NI.

Thanks for your help!

Regards,

Lu
