install real time 8.6 problems

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello all,

I´m trying to install Real Time 8.6 on a Desktop target. I ran the verification tool and it says that it´s a compatible target.

I created the Desktop PC utility usb drive and formatted the target with no problems.

When I restarted the PC the network card was initialized with the following address: 169.254.81.194 and it doesn´t show up on MAX.

It should have started with 0.0.0.0 so that we could then configure the IP Address.

Am I doing something wrong?

thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam !

Can you tell me a little more about the Desktop PC you are using : what is the network interface card you are using ?

Is your computer (host) connected through a network or connected directly to the target ?

What can you see on the screen of the Desktop target ? Does an error appears ?

Can you give me a screenshot of MAX and of the software installed in MAX.

Have a nice day.

Regards,

Hi Maxime,

First I was installing the real time on a desktop connected with a cross over cable and when I tried to see the target on MAX it didn´t show up.That was when I posted this question here.

This morning I started from scratch and instead of connecting directly using a cross over cable I connected the target to our LAN. The IP address was the same but I was able to change it.

However I have some questions:

  1. In Labview 8.5.1 (in this same target) when I installed real time the default IP was 0.0.0.0. Has this changed?
  2. I tried (with Labview 8.6) to change the IP to 10.0.0.100 and connect to it using the cross over it responded to ping but did not show up in MAX. Any ideas why?
  • Network interface: 10/100 Base-T Intel® 82562.
  • No error apears on the screen of the target.

Thank you,

Adam

Hi,

Does the IP configuration is the same as your Network Card ?

To check that can you go in the windows console (Start » Run » cmd) and then in the console type : "ipconfig /all" . then you will be able to see your Network Card and check if the subnet mask, ip adress, and them are the "same" as your PXI.

I'm not sure that the IP adress you are giving to your target is of the same class than your Network Card.

Hi,

The network configuration is correct. On the development PC I have 2 network cards one connected to the LAN (192.168.2.169/255.255.255.0) another connected directly to the target (10.0.0.66/255.0.0.0) using cross over cable.

I had this same configuration using LV 8.5.1.

I have just installed another target and this one acquired an IP address from DHCP. I cannot explain this difference, they´re the same hardware.

Thank you,

Adam

Hi Adam !

You should have said before that you had 2 networks cards !

Can you have a look at this page : http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/FD9E1AF5AB1343098625736F0076DE6B?OpenDocument

And then try connecting to your target using crossover cable .
