how to specify not to display the Find dialog box (Labview 8.2)

labview 8.2 :in document "371780b.pdf"
Page 7:
"
Open VI Reference Function
The default behavior for the options input of the Open VI Reference
function is to prompt users to find missing subVIs of the referenced VI.
A new value, 0x20, specifies not to display the Find dialog box or prompt
users to find missing subVIs of the referenced VI. "

But the 0x20 assigned to whom? since i don't want every time when changing a control's propoties, the dialog window will pop up and take time to finish. I want to disable it. Just like the behaviors in the previous version. then how? pls help

Not sure what is unclear to you about this statement. All it's saying is that you wire a constant with a value of 0x20 to the "options" input of the "Open VI Reference" VI. The "options" input is a mask-type input, so you add the values of the options you want. So, for example, if you wanted both the "do not find" option, which is 0x20, and the "record modifications" option, which is 0x01, you would wire a constant of 0x21 (0x20 + 0x01) to the "options" input.

Thanks. Maybe I didn't make it clear of my question.
What I mean is, in the front panel in Labview 8.2,when everytime I right-click any control, and then select the Properties, then "the Find dialog box (which will prompt users to find missing subVIs of the referenced VI)" will pop up and take time to finish. Is it ok to specify not to display that dialog just like the behavior in the previous version? I notice the dialog name in the pop up windows' bar is PropPage_FPB.vi. When I tried to open that vi, I couldn't find the option input. then how to do it? thanks

OK, that sounds like something is messed up with your LabVIEW installation, since the VI "PropPage_FPB" is an integral part of LabVIEW. There's nothing for you to change or set with that VI. Perhaps someone from NI may tell you differently, but I would do a "Repair" on the LabVIEW installation, or a reinstall. Please note that I'm shooting from the hip on this.

Hi,

The PropPage_FPB.vi is linked to the "Data Binding" property of any control. So typically the subVIs should be in the default LabVIEW directories. I will also suggest repairing LabVIEW.

Thanks. But I tried, it seems still the same. everytime when I try to change a control's properties, the dialog window will pop up and take time to finished.I just want it to be disabled thus can change the properties faster. I attached a screenshot this time for your reference. pls have a look on it.

Hi,

Verify PropPage_FPB.vi is in the following directory "D:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\resource\PropertyPages\Pages".

Hi,

It seems you are missing the lksock.dll in the default location (D:\WINDOWS\system32).  So search for the dll and make sure it is located in the system32 folder.

Hi everyone!

To LV_allen:
I also had the problem like yours. I did the following: I opened PropPage_FPB.vi as you did and saw a lot of warnings about logosbrw.dll and some other dll's that were located not in \Program Files\lvdev\resource, but in \Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\resource where LabVIEW is installed. Must be some bug that the developers missed while writing "Data Binding" property page. I just saved PropPage_FPB.vi and all other files in the save dialog when closing and restarted LabVIEW. After that when I opened properties of the front panel elements the search dialog didn't appear. The other solution may be creating lvdev\resource\ subdirectory in Program Files and copying dll's from \Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\resource there.

P.S. This search dialog also appears when openning web and network related pages in the Tools -> Options... dialog box. Definitely some bug.
