I probably would use "tick count" or "high resolution relative seconds". The "elapsed time" express VI is, first of all, an "express VI". It has five inputs and eight (!!) outputs and logic to auto-reset, etc. Seems like overkill for that. 😉

My question was meant to be about the indication that using the "elapsed time" express vi would force you be stuck in the loop. I generally don't use express VIs, but I do on occasion use Elapsed time due to its convenience.
