Use an ActiveX container and embed IE into your application.  Then you won't have to do any rendering.  You will have to do some ActiveX properties and methods to load the page, though.

Alternatively, you can launch IE in a seperate process using System Exec to open the page.  There is a WinAPI call to get the default broswer if you wanted to lauch whatever the user typically uses as their default (Firefox, Opera, IE).

Any VI can be published as a web page without having any web design knowledge. Go to Tools>Web Publishing Tool. There is a Help button there and more extensive information in the on-line help. You have to run the included LabVIEW web server and there are certain limitations to how many clients can connect at the same time.

Hi

I am wondering about something else. Is that possible with LabView (and ACtiveX or .NET) to have a callback, or just see my polling if the download of file is complete ?

Most of the options shows that site loading, downloadin opening etc is complete, havent found anything that I could connect with download manager from firefox or IE.

Well hope there is someone who also had such and idea and together we can solve it 🙂

Thanks in advance 🙂

Bye

Hi pachook,

It is possible in LabVIEW to access the ActiveX event callbacks for the WebBrowser object. The "ActiveX Event Callback for IE.vi" is a good example found in the Example Finder that demonstrates this capability. The ability to poll whether the download is complete will be completely dependent on the DWebBrowserEvents that the WebBrowser supports. FileDownload will notify when a download file download begins. From Microsoft's MSDN page, "When the WebBrowser control is about to begin a download operation, it fires the DWebBrowserEvents2:: DownloadBegin event." A DownloadComplete event is also fired when the download operation finishes. From the information I've found, it sounds like these events (and ProgressChange) are only for page downloads and not for file downloads, but they are your best bet. I would suggest inquiring on the MSDN Forum for more information on these events.

From Mozilla's website, "Since ActiveX applies only to the Windows platform, it is unsuitable for Firefox which is available across multiple platforms. Currently, there is no mechanism by which you can use ActiveX controls in Firefox 2.0 or later." There has been a third-party project to create a Firefox ActiveX control, but it only provides the same mechanisms as the Microsoft WebBrowser control. I hope this helps!
