how to deploy host vi to networked Win XP-Pro computer?

We are looking at upgrading our product's user interface from the PDA-style TPC-2006 to a panel pc running Windows XP-Pro.  How do I add a target like this to my LabVIEW project such that I can add a vi and a shared variable library under it?  It is not an RT target running Pharlap RTOS, it is not a PDA target running WIndows CE, but if I add it as "Networked Computer/Device", Project Explorer won't let me add vis or shared variables under it.

Jeff,

So you would like to use a Windows XP computer for the user interface?  The easiest method to add your VIs to this panel PC would be to create an EXE of the program and then deploy that to the PC.  If you don't have LabVIEW installed (which sounds likely) you will need to install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine as well, which you could easily do by creating an Installer for the program.  To do all of this you would just have to leave the VI and Library targeted to My Computer and then create an Application and Installer for your VI.  Be sure to take a look at this KB just to make sure that you include the correct support files for your Shared Variables.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks!
