help on rs232 serial communication..

Hi..

a beginner fascinated by labview.. i am planning to use labview to control a pid controller parameter through the rs232 serial port... can anyone refer me a good starter's guide/tutorial or anything that could help me as a beginner?

NB: I am using labveiw 7express...

I would recommend that you go on ni.com and search for 'serial'. Also, have a look at the Example Finder in LabVIEW; Help -> Find Examples. There is an entire directory that should help you understand how to design serial applications.

Do not follow the tutorial pointed out by Venkatesh. The code presented is obsolete. It uses old serial commands when today you should be using VISA. The LabVIEW manuals have a tutorial. To learn more about LabVIEW you can also look over the material in the NI Developer Zone's Learning Center which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the online courses for free. There are also several examples that ship with LabVIEW.
