handle telephone using labview

may be it seems silly but i'm working for automation of a lab where i was asked to handle telephone in tht lab as lab is very big n by the time some one reach frm computer chair to telephone it takes goood tim all that i have is a Pc and microphone n speaker and labview installed this is one of the task all i want is just if at all phone ring for more than 4 time automatically it should divert to n should be able to communicate thru PC as we do in voice chat but i want this performed thru labview
any one who can help me ro solve this problem till nw i can communocate with instruments in lab but this communication gadget is black box
help me in developing a vi i wll be greatful for any possible solutions & sugesstions

Hello sridhar,

You will probably want to use your computer modem to interact with the phone line in your office. I am not aware of any specific code written for your type of application but you can use NI-VISA to communicate with your modem. Please see that following link for more information on the different commands that can be sent to your modem.
