The definition of group is as follows:
Collection of input or output channels or ports that you define. Groups
can contain analog input, analog output, digital input, digital output,
or counter/timer channels. A group can contain only one type of channel.
Use a task ID number to refer to a group after you create it. You can
define up to 16 groups at one time.
Question: If I declare the same group # for 2 different devices (MIO
cards, e.g.), what happens? I haven't tried it yet but would like to
know about it before I use two different dacq cards.

And the answer is....nothing.

The taskID number you are referring to is a unique ID for each type of data acq I/O. The taskID is dependent on a few things:

MIO board device number
Type of I/O
Group number

Therefore, a different device number with the same group number will create a different taskID, which would be unique.
