export historical data from remote database

When using the DSC historical vi's to retrieve trace information from a remote database the database seems to become locked and the local .scf ceases to continue logging data.  The only way to reestablish the connection seems to be rebooting the local computer.  Is there a way around this or am I doing something wrong?

This seems to be an issue with Citadel-5.  See the following thread (NI's Lookout product also has the same Citadel-5 historical database):

If you need a work-around until they fix Citadel 5, upgrade the database computer (server) to multi-processor.  It is not conclusive that an unlimited number of trace views can't crash a multi-processor server, but I have not been able to get more than 50% CPU used by a Citadel server with two processors, even with multiple client machines fetching multi-trace trends.  So things will still slow down, but not crash your machine.  NI claims to be working on a fix, but the issue has been known for quite some time now, so it is hard to say when significant improvements will come forth.

I think that there is a misunderstanding as to the problem that I am having.  It may be on my part.  The problem that I have is that when I use the Get Trace List.vi to connect to a remote database, it prevents my local .scf file from logging to that same remote database.  This maybe similar to the problem that I am being pointed to, but I would think that if that was the case, I would merely expect a momentary interuption instead of a permanent one.  I didn't notice any problems like over utilization of the CPU on either machine, but I will recheck this to see.

Thanks for all input to this point.

Hello Cowboy: I am a bit confused. Do you see this behavior of not being able to log to the database from your .scf file right from the beginning or does it happen after a while? Does it give you any errors? If you get an error number or message, I can try and look it up. Thanks, Jaideep J National Instruments
