expert LabVIEW code evaluation?

Dan-

This is exactly what we did. They bid on a whole machine package with great confidence, but we were unsure of their abilities. We had them do just some basic vision stuff. They quoted 3 weeks to do it. 3 weeks after our order, I called them to see why they hadn't come out to get the images of our parts that they said they would do. They were busy training. A couple of weeks later someone came out(after 2 cancellations) with some equipment to get images of our parts. He emailed me the images a couple of days later. I immediatly replied that I thought the images were of such poor quality that they would be useless for the project. He assured me that they were fine, and when one of his associates gets done with a t
raining session in another week, they will both work on it together. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and they tell me that the images are useless for the project. I said stop the project, state what has been done so far, and we will pay them for that. Higher-ups then started calling me insisting that they should finish the project as planned. I told them that in the mean time we had started working with someone else for the whole machine, and they were having success with the vision portion. The V.P. then told me to get the images from this other company and they would use those for analysis. That is the last time I spoke with them. They are one of the more well known alliance members, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I have since done my own vision development, and found it to be relatively simple.

Brian,

It sounds like you made all the right moves. All I can say is that even the strong Alliance Members can have weak links here and there. Our business is a challenging one since we do not always have an even flow of projects. Often we get several all at once and must carefully partition the resources. I'm glad you ended up with a successful solution. Keep up with your vision development. Check out the new hotness of IMAQ 7.0!
