The same question recently appeared in the Instrument Control Board.

Ok, but what does the code look like that generates this error? What version of LV? What OS? Can you try a different port? Is this a builtin port or a USB dongle?

What does the code look like? Who makes the USB dongle that you are using?

If the VISA resource name is Empty then you will get this type of error. You might have left the error out wire open thats why you are getting the pop-up message. Check whether you can select the VISA resource name and try.

The information you sent is noted -- but it is also not what I needed to know.

If you want help, answer the questions I asked before and stop resending the same bitsof info over and over again. If you can't show us your code, or tell us who makes the RS232 dongle you are using, don't bother replying. It's wasting our time.

hi team,

i agree with P@Anand.. ISA resource name is Empty and its giving me this error. Question is why is it empty and what to do to make it show COM ports as mine is not showing COM ports even when device manager shows it.

Regards

ALi

The error indicates that you have not installed NI-VISA.
