display a text file on clicking a button

hi all,

I nedd ur help. I want to display a text file on clicking a button. This file should not be modifiable and should not stop the execution of other vi's.
Which kind of operation(switch when press, switch when release etc.) I need for this button.

Thanks in advance

Depends on whether you want this displayed on the front panel of the main VI or as a popup window. If having it displayed on the main window's front panel is adequate then all you need is a string indicator on the main panel. The mechanical action of the button should be "latch when released". As to how to wire up a button, that depends on the structure of your main VI. Do you have an event structure? If so, you just add an event case for a button and in the event's case handler just read the file using the standard file I/O functions and wire that VI's output to the string indicator. If you want a popup window then you'll need to use the VI Server to launch a subVI that's basically just a modeless dialog box. You may want to brush up on event handling in LabVIEW. Check out the user manual as well as check out the examples that ship with LabVIEW.
