If you are not going to use a colormap, a comprable replacement would be to use an intensity graph. According to the
LabVIEW 2009 help, the colormap.xctl is a 'customizable intensity graph with a rainbow color scale.'
It would be hard to build a colormap VI or control yourself as according to this
KnowledgeBase it is difficult to make a colormap on your own. 'The Colormap Indicators are basically Intensity Indicators with modified Intensity Maps. It would be very difficult to create the rainbow-style colormap yourself. You would need to add many additional markers and manually set the colors for each marker.'
