changing channel order in a group in tdms file

I've seen the code posted in https://forums.ni.com/t5/Example-Code/TDMS-Combine-and-Rerrange/ta-p/3782888?profile.language=en.  But I was wondering if it were possible to do something similar without having to create a new TDMS file?

Let me explain; I'm creating a file template that will be copied and then filled with data.  In creating the template file, the "raw" data channel are first created with properties.  Then I would like to insert into particular locations in a group a "calculated" data channel with its own properties.

I've enclosed a VI I'm working on.  It takes the open template file, gets the existing channels, determines where it wants to insert the new channel...ideally.
