case structure with unconnected selector

Hello,

I have inherited some Labview code that has a case sturcture and the selector is not connected to anything, but yet the code works. Any ideas out there?

I suspect that the selector IS connected to something and that the "something" is probably hidden under the case structure. Select the structure only (click on the border, do not click and drag across the structure). Then move the structure using the arrow keys and see if a wire to the selector shows up.

If this does not find anything, please post an example.

Hello,

Yes, you were right, I have to move the case structure, quite a bit until I saw the wire that was connected to the selector! Lots of "other stuff" underneath the case selector, let the fun begin!

I suggest that you take some time right at the beginning to clean up the diagrams. It will likely save you time in the future. There are some style guides available.

In general avoid having anything hidden behind anything else. Use right to left wiring. Keep diagrams to the size of one screen (no scrolling to see everything). If the diagram is bigger than this, it is probably time to put some of the code into subVIs.

Mr. Lynn

I believe you meant left to right wiring. Right?

Right! Left to right is the way the signals should go in the wires.

Thanks,
