You haven't provided enough information. What type of LCD screen (computer display, PDA/cell phone display, color or monochrome).

I performed a search box in the upper right of the NI web site with the keywords "LCD screen test" and found this.

Most of the LCD touch panels operate in place of a mouse so from the actual hardware standpoint, LabVIEW does not need to do anything. Dell sells some touch panel monitors that will plug into a standard PC and work very well (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=A1702827...

If you are talking about a fully integrated touch panel platform then there are a number of options you have, including a number of offerings from NI, such as the following products: http://www.ni.com/labview/hmi.htm,

That being said, deploying a touch panel application will require specific considerations with respect to your programming. You must take into account that the user will most likely not have a keyboard at their disposal so any fields that require text entry will need  a pop up keyboard to enter the data. The same can be said for numeric controls. Trying to toggle the increment and decrement buttons on a numeric control can be quite a challenge (as well as lead to someone poking at the touch screen with a sharp object like a  screwdriver). Pop up numeric keypads are a good solid recomendation as well.

One last consideration is CPU power. Unless you are running a PC with a touch panel monitor attached your HMI will have far less horsepower than a standard computer. Keep your applications as thin and efficent as possible.

I'm baisically looking for the same thing... using NI hardware to drive the digial lines on a TFT LCD.

I'm using something like this: http://vlapplications.com/Docs/TFT/VL-PS-COG-T220MCQA-03.pdf

The LCD Driver IC is a HX8346-A: http://www.microtipsusa.com/download/HX8346-A_DS_T_v01.pdf which has an 18-bit bi-directional data bus.  Along with that there are a few other digital lines (I think 4) and then VCC, VCI, and GND.  If you look at the timing info from the first link on page 5, you'll see that the digital lines need someting like 10-40ns switching time (I'm an ME, so forgive me here), which would be 100kHz or better.

Ideally, I'll also be using a 4 or 5-wireresistive touch screen as well, which has an analog output typically connected to a touch screen driver IC (see here: http://gunzeusa.com/files/pdf/CRS2-204_spec_sheet_01%2017%2008.pdf).  Do I need a driver IC, or can I implement the equivalent analysis in LabView or CVI using only DAQ AI?

Finally, the only NI hardware I have available is a PCI-6251 with the SCB-68 breakout box.  Any recommendations on other hardware I'd need to make this thing work?

Thanks!
