camera scanning

Thank you Dennis for the information about scanning the barcode. I know you said that the camera is more expensive but we have it here in the Lab, we just thought traceabilty couldn't be done using it(Excuse our ignorance!). The camera is a BASLER A601f with an IEEE connection. Could you send me the front panel and blaock diagram, i would really appreciate it,thanks

First of all, you should not start a new thread when replying to a message in another thread. It just makes things more confusing.
Secondly, unfortunately, I don't have a VI that will do bar code recognition from a camera. I have seen this demonstrated with NI Vision software but that is an add-on to LabVIEW that I don't have. You should have the NI-IMAQ driver that comes with LabVIEW and I believe this supports IEEE-1394. There are also some basic vision functions that ship with LabVIEW but I'm not familiar with them either. You might have better luck posting to the Macine Vision forum for this type of question.

Karrine,

The IMAQ-1394 driver is not free and you will need to purchase this from NI. NI-IMAQ doesn't actually support firewire cameras but purely analog and digital framegrabbers.

In order read 1D and 2D Barcodes you will need to install NI-Vision that again you will need to purchase from NI. It is also part of the Vision development module.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards
