Is it possible to make an exectuble that does not run when opened?

This is certainly possible. The exact method to use will probably vary
with your Application Builder version, though. In the latest (LabVIEW
5.1), you need to go to the VI Settings tab in the App Builder, select
the top-level VI of interest, click the Edit Build Settings button, and
change "Run when opened" to say no instead of yes.

In LabVIEW 4.x, I believe that the Run when opened setting was not
default, and you had to select that option in the VI Setup Execution
Options tab in order to get the built application to run when opened.
