This may be a stupid question, but can anyone explain all the non-breaking
spaces (hard spaces) that show up in posts on this group? I haven't noticed
them in other groups (admittedly I do not subscribe to many). It's really
annoying trying to read a post when it's ful of "&nbsp"s. wtf?over

Are you looking at posts with your browser at forums.ni.com or are you reading the newsgroup mirror of these post with a newreader.

The newsgroup comp.lang.labview is mirreded to http://forums.ni.com/ni/board?board.id=170 and vice versa.

Sometimes, posts posted via the forum don't format nicely in the newsreader, and posts from a newsreader might not format nicely in the forum.

It could also be an incompatibility with your browser settings.

Can you point to a post that has a formatting problem?

My hypothesis is the messages with non-breaking spaces originate in a
discussion group at National Instruments web Site. I suspect the non-
breaking spaces get inserted when the messages are uploaded to this
news group. Have you also noticed how some messages supply answers to
questions but never show the original question or frequently new
topics appear in batches?

I'm curious why anyone would use a newsgroup reader and not the discussion forums on the NI site? The forums here allow attachments (pretty vital when trying to debug a visual language). I'm sure that the missing questions and answers are posts with attachments that the newsgroup does not allow.

Its because of the way that National Instruments web site interfaces with
the usenet newsgroup, and using extended ASCII

Wow, I guess I went through a time warp. I've been so busy I neglected to
check up on this thread. I have noticed that there seems to be more
responses than anything else here. I am underwhelmed. . .
