air flow/ temperature control

Hi all,

I'm a student at BGU, and I need to write a software that will control the air flow velocity and temeperature of a lab drying oven.

This oven is a tray drier of  'armfield'. It has an air flow  and a temperature control (as can be seen in the added pics). The idea is to control the air flow rate and temepature so when it's higher or lower then the set point, it will notify the user.

1. I would really like any help from you since I;m very new at labVIEW. (also it can be written with MATLAB). If anyone has something written that i can use I will be greatfull.

2. If anyone has any idea in wich sensor I can you hat will be helpfull as well.

Thanks alot for any help.

Etili.

Hi,

do you want to control flow and temp - or do you just want to monitor both values?

Anyway you need two sensors, one for flow, the other for temp. Both can easily be found by a web search - or you just ask the lab engineer for available sensors! You also need some DAQ hardware: what do you have in store?
Best regards,
GerdW

On your first question: LabVIEW comes with a lot of example VIs, so you only need to examine them!

Thank you for your answer!

I need to control both the temperature and air flow (I mean, whenever the air flow rate or the temeprature is higher or lower then the set point, I need it to alarm).

Do you have a software like that, that is already written? my supervisor wanted us to find a written software for that because my knowlage in labVIEW/ MATLAB is not that good.

About the sensor, do you know wich one can work for my purpose?

Again, thanks alot.

Hi Etili,

whenever the air flow rate or the temeprature is higher or lower then the set point, I need it to alarm).

Again: do you want to control or do you want to monitor those values?

When all you want is to output an alarm, when limits are crossed, you just want to measure/monitor values.

When you do the control on your own, you need to steer some valves and heaters too, but apparently your oven already has controllers for that part…

So what do you want to do?

Best regards,
GerdW

Both optenions are fine.

I wanted to monotor the values, but if it's possible to control aoutomatically the values (when temeprateure and air flow are aberrant, it will aoutomatically return to set point) that will be great too.

Hope I succeded to explain myself better.

Hi Etili,

do you have access to flow control device and heating/cooling devices? From your picture this seems to be "build in" in this black box and all you got are two dials to set setpoints for both values…

Start with a simple monitoring task. Try to get an overview of the available hardware in the mean time…

Best regards,
GerdW
