Y8 (RAW8) Video format and NI Imaqdx

I am using NI-IMAQdx to acquire an image from UVC camera.  We developed the camera, its a 8bit monochrome.  I have configured the camera as Y8 MEDIASUBTYPE in the UVC Descriptor.  I have no issues acquiring the image, however, it seems that something is altering the pixel values.  In MAX, the camera  shows up as a BGRA 8 Packed pixel format.  This seemed like its not an issue, however we started tagging the last row of the image with some statistics about the image. The pixel values are not as expected. I have confirmed that the image coming over the USB to the PC is correct, so its something in the driver layer.  I know NI-IMAQdx used the DirectShow driver, could this be doing some sort of encoding\decoding?  Has anyone seen this or have suggestions?  Is there a different SUBMEDIATYPE that I could use for the UVC Descriptor?  Its also odd that the descriptor is Y8 (I've also tried Y800), and NI-MAXdx uses BGRA 8 Packed.
