Writing to a single serial port with multiple VI's in LabVIEW

@RAMASG wrote:

Appreciated your earlier reply.

myRio VI is still not reading the data from Computer VI.

Shall you please enlighten the com port selection in both VI.

This sounds like a hardware problem.   Both the PC and myRIO are DCE data communications Equipment.   You need the right cable to make it work .

What kind of cable are you using?

Is it null modem or straight through?

You've completely changed up the story here!

While a USB cable is "serial" in that is stands for Universal Serial Bus, it is not the same thing as a serial port.  You said you want multiple VI's talking to a serial port which implies VISA and RS-232.

That  USB cable is not a serial port.  It provides a special communication means between your PC and the myRIO.  You need to look into examples and tutorials on how to program a RIO device.  Don't even bother to look at anything related to serial ports.

No.  I am advising you to learn how to program the myRIO.  It is a part of an environment that has your host computer, a real-time computer running on the RIO, and the FPGA.  LabVIEW already has examples on how those parts can communicate with each other.
