Wire using operate tool !

Hi everybody,

I saw an interesting phenomenon in labview. The operate tool used to wire between controls & indicators instead of connect wire tool.
Press Control+ R keys continuously ,move the mouse to control or indicator terminal the operate tool is appear.Click the terminal and stop pressing the keys(Control + R) now u see the operate tool works like an connect wire tool.

This is working only in automatic tool selection is in ON  condition.

Hi Kumar,

how long do you use LabView?

Ctrl-R can be used to start a vi. While a vi is running, the mouse pointer changes to the operate-symbol (normally the little pointing finger). When the vi stops (aka don't press Ctrl-R anymore) you're back to edit mode. In auto-tool-selection you will get the wiring tool. Normal behaviour, or?

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi GerdW,

Pl do it without pressing the stop button. Keep Ur left hand on Ctrl+R combination.

Now when the Vi is running, keep the operate tool on any Control or Indicetor or wire or any terminal in the block diagram,
Suddenly click & drag the operating tool it ll come with a new wire branch.

But at the same time, the VI will stop, mouse takes precedence over the keyboard as per Windows settings, I think so...
This was curious to me.

This is what I meant in my previous post. I didnt ask any question about running or wiring, pls dont mistake me.

BTW, I'm into LV for the past 1 yr.

Regards,
Kumar.

Hi Kumar,

what I meant:
Ctrl-R is generating events with a rate of ~10Hz (depending on your keyboard settings). Your vi is probably executing very fast (let's say 5ms = 200Hz).
So after the first Ctrl-R your vi runs 5ms then LabView switches back to edit mode for ~95ms. This happens again and again. 5ms in run mode (=operation tool) and 95ms in editing mode (wiring tool). What will happen when you click the mouse? You're probably end up in edit mode...

Btw. for testing you may use the 'run continously' button 🙂

Best regards,
GerdW
