Win98 example will not install on Win98 - App builder setting?

HI all,

I'm testing an example VI (attached) on different operating systems. I build the application on XP (using LV7.11) and get the following error when trying to install on Win98:

"This installation requires Windows NT (with service pack 6 or greater), Windows 2000, or Windows XP"

The application does not install, even though it only consists of the example VI that should work on 98. I have looked in the application builder of any relavant setting and found nothing to help.

ANY IDEAS?

I've just had a thought - Do I need to build the app on Win98 and provide multiple installtion files? If so, are there any work arounds, we do not have any 98 machines with labVIEW on.

Thanks / Martin.

LabVIEW 7.1 is not supported on Win95 or Win98. Microsoft had announced that they were dropping support for Wind98 and NI did the same. When MS changed their mind, it was too late for NI to change 7.1. The latest version with Win98 support was 7.0 (which doesn't support Win95).

Thank's Dennis,

Guess I'll have to work on going back to LV7.0 or take the Microsoft & NI approach.

HI,

I'm now wondering about windows ME, when did NI stop supporting this, or does support continue?

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Win ME is just a somewhat upgraded windows 98 (you could call it 98 SE3), so 7.1 won't work on it. 7.0 should. I don't think you need to build the application on a 98 machine. I think that if you have 7.0 on XP and build the application it will work on 98 as well. It won't work if you do it from linux or mac to windows, but I believe win32 applications should be similar enough so the executable will work even if you compile it in XP.

Thank's all,

This is all news to me, I guess I've missed one too many seminars. I'm not sure which way I'm going to go yet - but thanks for explaining my options.

I can't give any information about Win ME, but I've yet to have any problems with building the LV7.0 application on an XP machine and running the executable on WIn 98 machines.
