Why remove Tank indicator?

In LabVIEW 8.6 the Tank indicator on Modern / Numeric palette has been removed. Why? It is ok to add new elements, but NI should have a very good reason to remove elements that have been on the palettes for many years. Of course the Vertical Progress Bar can be used, after the data type has been changed from Integer to Floating poing number. Well, the main reason I feel some frustration about this little thing, is that I have based a couple of tutorials - both documents and videos - on using the Tank indicator for displaying liquid level of a tank... 🙂

I am not sure about the background of the difference, but looking into my modern => numeric palette reveals the tank like shown in the attached screenshot.

I have LV 8.6 PDS including FPGA, RT, Statechart and DSC modules and several toolkits installed.

 

Maybe you have customized palettes? (Tools >> Advanced >> Edit Palette Set)

I have been testing this issue also. It seems that the Tank indicator only shows up in LabVIEW 8.6 when you have the Datalogging & Supervisory Control Module (DSC) installed on your computer. If not, the Tank indicator isn't available.

I use Prof Dev installation. I have not the DCS module installed. By selectingTools / Advanced / Edit Palette Set I see LicErr at the Tank symbol. The reason can be that I do not have DCS module installed. 

NI: Please, do not remove things, just add! (Unless there are really good reasons for removing.)

You will find the tank in the classic menu.

I know. But still, the Tank has been removed 🙂
