Why does working with LLBs in 8.0 take FOREVER?

I am currently working on a project that requires me to convert LV6.1 LLBs to LV8.0 LLBs.  First I convert them to 7.1, which takes little effort.  Then I use the handy LLB Maganer utility in 8.0 to convert the librarise to 8.0.  The problem is that whenever I go to convert a directory to a library or save a VI to an LLB, it can take upto 3 minutes to save.  For a library of over 75 VIs, this is quite a long time of constant hard drive spinning and terrible computer response time.  I bascially have to sit there and wait for two hours.  Is there something wrong?  Is this expected?  Can it be corrected?

Thanks,
Dan Marlow

Hi Dan,

I'm sorry I have no answer to your question but I've recently upgraded to LV 8.0.1 and it takes ages to start Smiley Mad. My PC is quite new, it has 1G RAM and LV 7.1 was loading very fast.

Is LV 8.20 any faster to load than 8.0.1 Smiley Surprised ?

We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.

TiTou, I believe that issue is supposed to be addressed in 8.2.

Check the upgrade notes for more info

I agree.  Loading takes a couple of minutes, but actually working with the VIs, once LV is started, is just like in other versions...with this one glaring exception.

You guys should see that both startup time and LLB load/save times are improved in LabVIEW 8.2.
