The buffer is the number that you put in to the config VI. Didn't you wonder why it asked for # samples twice?
If this doesn't solve your problem, I don't know what will.
Edit: Glad to hear it worked. I guess you weren't doing anything wrong, just something weird with the buffer functionality that differs from LabVIEW Version or computer. It's usually a good rule of thumb to have a large buffer anyways.

Ha,
I was going into the code and i saw it reading that config file later in there. Mustve been something weird. I was even getting weird data at the beginning and end of the read, but the buffer issue fixed that too. In the express VI they just wire ithe control straight to both of them, they should probably change that.

Yes. One of the many reasons you'll see all of the regulars here on the forum advising against Express VIs. Limited VIs are simpler, but not always better.
