Where I can I find Serial VISA Open function?

I'm currently running LV6i. I having trouble trying to locate VISA Open for serial communication. I looked under Functions>>Instrument I/O>>Serial and all I see is VISA Write, Read, and Close. Where is VISA Open? I'm new to LabVIEW so I'm still trying to find my way around.

Try Functions > Instrument I/O > VISA >Advanced > VISA Open

There should be a VI called VISA Configure Serial Port in that palette. If its not then maybe someone was messing with your palettes or something. Try making sure that you have the default palette selected.

When using VISA Configure Serial Port VI does it open the serial port for you too?

I think VISA automatically opens the port when it is specified in the VISA resource name.

I think the VISA open function is not required anymore because the VISA session is automatically opened when the VISA resource name is used in a VISA node.

True, but they should have a function in the serial palette to configure the serial port.
