Hi DinaS,

thx for the Vis, i can open and run it now.

But, do i really have to save the visa-session in TestStand?

I thought the session is managed by VISA so i just pass the visa-string(like GPIB0::4::INSTR) to my teststeps, but i never saved the output before.

Is there any advantage when doing it?

If you do it this way you have the control over it and visa does not manage something automatically and you know it is the same session.

But of course you can do all the steps in one VI also.

I mean it different. I also do it in different vis but my question is: Do i have to save the visa-session (that is returned by the visa-open)?

Currently i just pass the ascii-text GPIB0::4::INSTR into each of my visa-steps and NOT the returned visa-session from open.

Is there a difference?

Hi

I seems to work your way too but I think its better style to have control over the sessions.

The question is if the output of Visa-Open/write/read is something else then the input.

I think its the same, so if i pass always the same visa-address into the vis then i dont have to save the output in a extra/second variable.
