What is the difference between NI-DAQmx and MAX?

I was trying to download NI-DAQ and I got all this stuff:

Adding or Changing

• ·NI-DAQmx 9.5.1

NI MAX Configuration Support

Application Development Support

• ·NI I/O Trace 3.0
• ·NI Measurement & Automation Explorer 5.1
• ·NI Network Browser 5.0.0

Is all of this just the different parts of NI-DAQ?

DAQmx is the software driver for the DAQ cards. MAX is the tool that you use to view what hardware devices and software you have installed. MAX is also used to create channels so you can pre-define them and use them in LabVIEW.
