What does the Max Order input on the OAT Spectral Map VI really mean?

What am I hitting that causes it to submit mid typing?

Anyway - I opened the LabVIEW example Color Map (Offline).vi, used the Generate Signal but changed no settings there, changed the plot type to RPM-Order and set the Max Order to 32. Running the VI gives me a color map showing 44 orders. Why does it give me the illusion that I can set the maximum analysis order and then returns something different?

Hi SigPhil,

The Max order to analyze control on the Color Map tab specifies the maximum order for which you want an accurate measurement of intensity. The Color Map displays more orders than you select because it uses the additional orders for internal calculations. You can look at the Developer Zone article Performing Order Analysis with the LabVIEW Order Analysis Toolkit for more information.
